First, you need to know a thing or two about little me and my makeup.
I started out using drugstore makeup in high school and throughout college and always thought it was silly to splurge on expensive brands when it was likely all the same stuff.
A few years ago, I started watching beauty gurus on YouTube, and I was converted. I dabbled in eyeshadow techniques, colors and brands. Then I rollercoastered into higher end brands of foundations, blushes, powders - the works. I was persuaded that the quality of makeup makes a difference in how you look.
And really, it does.
YouTube beauty gurus I follow:
Makeup's become a small hobby for me. I like feeling pretty and the prospect of discovering products that enhance that feeling. I researched a lot and taught myself different techniques. So, while I do know that we don't need all this makeup to be beautiful, I figure since I've already learned how to do it well, why not enjoy and utilize what I know?
I'm not one to just throw frivolous money around experimenting with makeup. Before I buy anything, I read about it online, listen to what people on YouTube have to say, try it out in stores and make sure it's something I absolutely think is worth the cash.
Since I'm home with Carter, I don't wear makeup daily (so don't you dare come knocking on my door unannounced!). But I do defy my toddler's demands and throw it all on before I leave the house. Every time.
I'm going to take this opportunity to list out the makeup I use regularly when I do my makeup ... except for the lip gloss, I couldn't pick a favorite and listed three. So if you're in the market for any of these items or just feel like trying something new, know that I have a love affair with all of these.
