I've been preferring Fall over Summer ever since I was struck by motherhood. After a little thought, I figured it's because I can't commit to my deep, summer-long tan and flat tummy the way I used to. Fall clothes delete pale skin and are perfect for covering exercise deprived stomach pooches.

It's cold here! Why do I love it?! I think the chilled air makes my spiced pumpkin candle smell less like the candle police are on their way to my house. I rummaged today and threw together some semi-warm cuteness.

Sweater dress with a fitted gray t-shirt. Luckily everything goes well with my tween green nails (because my hubs probably hates them).

We pulled three shirts out of Carter's drawer and tried them on before we went with this one. All his new Fall clothes hang on him like giant pajamas.

Hair with a loose braid. Inspired by Christina Applegate in the premiere of that new show, Up all Night. It has potential, but it was a little cornier than I'd anticipated. The show, I mean.

Boots, layered with tights and knee socks on top.

We are each other's accessories.

steppin' out saturday

Today we ate an entire jar of Nutella (ok so it was just me). The weather here's so hot that it reminds me of winter - you can't be outside for more than a couple minutes without dying to get back inside.

We got Carter a potty yesterday. I can't believe how smart he is ... I ask him if he needs to potty, and he just does it. Whenever he tinkles, the potty senses the pee and cheers for him. He immediately hops up - not always finished and with pee droplets everywhere - and we run to go get a treat (an M&M). No critiquing our (complete lack of) method. It's only day two.

Since I'm falling short of pretty backgrounds, I did a small Steppin' Out Saturday in front of our house this afternoon. We have grass, landscaping, carpet and pretty much everything finished. I'm eager for them to get some paint on that front door, though.

Today we were going to the playground, but we couldn't find anywhere to park and happened upon a Civil War reenactment instead. So how's that for a random day?

This Abraham Lincoln-ish character stopped to chat. I think Carter was trying not to laugh? I dunno, but he was concentrating on something.

The actors did look pretty incredible in their outfits. They were playing flutes and completely in character. The women wore no makeup and poised themselves with little umbrellas.

Although, we did see some men hiding boxes of fried chicken in their tents. And then there were obviously the important phone calls.

Ok. So I made him.

Completely baffled about which pose was the cutest, I decided to just make triplets out of myself. This skirt is actually shorts. So before your jaw hits the ground - no, I haven't quite become a little mommy stripper.

Auditions are next week.
