day 2: what makes you uniquely you?

Ugh. Being honest here, I'm not loving this question. It seemed simple enough, but between Carter getting a cold and having teeth coming in, I let the day pass by, and I completely avoided sitting down here to write about myself. Am I falling off my own challenge on the second day? No.

Not this early. Maybe on day 3 or 4 I will. Kidding!

I tried thinking of different angles to take this post, to turn it into something cute instead of what it is - a personality-ish subject. But, no matter how you look at it, this question wants me to write about myself. Bleh.

Uniquely me doesn't want to nit pick at her features and write about herself. Uniquely me is obviously in a tiny bit of a cynical mood.

But here we go.

I'm ironic in that I worry myself sick about things like hair, makeup and clothes. And you know what? I hate that I'm so particular about all that because it exhausts me.
But I consider my personality super laid back. I almost never get worked up or stressed about anything. Unless, of course, it has to do with hair. makeup. clothes.

I'll buy an entire outfit specifically designed for a particular party.
But I don't care if someone doesn't call me back.
I wear a full face of makeup to get groceries.
But it didn't really bother me when Carter broke my only pair of glasses into three pieces.
If I don't have curls in my hair, I may as well be naked.

I love Spanish. Never had the chicken pox. My mind favors creativity, writing and art; it shivers at the sight of math and science. My voice is naturally soft, it's hard for me to yell.

My fingers and toes have probably had polish on them for every single minute of the past 15 years. I think better at night. I wish Carter and I were the same age so we could overcome this whole mother/son thing and just be BFFs.

And sometimes, I just have an urge to put bad, blurry pictures on my blog to boycott everyone's bloggy-photo-perfection-world that my writing's been living in.

  1. Love it Meghann !! That is one of the main things that led me to your blog (via YouTube).....During pregnancy & now Mummy-hood, you still take the time to care about yourself and your apperance. Not morph into a big sloppy blob. Good on you for always taking pride in yourself and your apperance.

When my bub was only a new-born, instead of sleeping, I (product obsessed) would still be up at 10.30pm, giving myself a facial & putting a treatment in my hair! It's what made ME feel good about myself & able to face the next day...and I have no doubt you feel the same way about hair & makeup...it's a lot more than just hair & makeup.

Good job - love the blurry photos.

  2. I wish I had the patience to care about how presentable I look. My hair is naturally curly, black, and thick. I know many women spend hours to achieve what I can in minutes with some gel. That’s why I donated my hair two years ago. I figured I wasn’t really using it.

I’m more a science and math person but I try so hard to be an artsy person. I love craft projects and often spend hours on a Sunday afternoon trying to teach myself something artsy/crafty. Maybe one of these days I’ll be able to convert over. :)

  3. I wish I could put on makeup everyday. How you do it I don't know. Keeping up with Lainey is enough work alone then me worrying about makeup, though I do love getting dressed up putting & putting on makeup. It makes a girl feel gorgeous!

  4. I wasn't loving this day either. I hate writing about myself.

I love that you somehow manage to care about how you look. I wish I could do that everyday. But even before Jack it took me ages to get ready. You have inspired me to try a little harder to look a little better. Hopefully I can get better at it. :)
